Jello is' zurück! Nach sechs Jahren Wartezeit ist der Ex-Dead Kennedys Frontmann mit seiner Medizinerschule zurück, in der sich u.a. Ralph Spight (Victims Family), Larry Boothroyd (Triclops, Brubaker) und Schlagzeuger Jason Willer (UK Subs, The Mob) eingeschrieben haben, als Gäste außerdem u.a. Nicole Laurenne (The Darts) an der Orgel.
Wie zu erwarten machen die alten Herren keine Gefangenen, und liefern ein abwechslungsreiches Punkalbum ab mit allem was das Genre hergibt, ob swingende Garagennummer, oder halsbrecherischer Hardcorepunk wie in den alten Zeiten. Im Mittelpunkt stehen aber wie immer die messerscharfen Lyrics vom guten Jello, der natürlich kein gutes Haar an nichts lässt, und gerade in der aktuellen Situation nicht besser passen könnte. 10 Stücke politischer Punk der alten Schule, der nie an Aktualität verlieren wird, und auch nicht nostalgisch oder angestaubt wirkt, dazu wunderschön verpackt im Artwork von Winston Smith mit viel Material aus dem Archiv von Jello.
Biaffras Kreativität ist seit der Post-DK-Zeit ungebrochen. Diverse Kooperationen und entsprechende Alben entstanden, etwa mit MINISTRY, MELVINS, D.O.A. und NOMEANSNO, und seit 2008 hat er mit THE GUANTANAMO SCHOOL OF MEDICINE eine feste Band, mit Ralph Spight (ex-VICTIMS FAMILY) einen musikalischen Mitverschwörer. Mit ,The Audacity Of Hype" (2009) und ,White People And The Damage Done" (2013) entstanden zwei exzellente Alben denen nun das dritte folgt.
Und JBATGSOM sind auf dem neuen so druckvoll, frisch und einzigartig wie immer, die Unterschiede liegen eher im Detail, sind textlicher Natur: Mit ,Boring day", ,No more selfies" und ,People with too much time on their hands" sind Songs enthalten, in denen Jello für seine Verhältnisse erstaunlich persönlich wird.
