Mountain, a really loud and heavy band for their time, delivered their debut album Climbing in 1970 and from start to finish this is a big loud in-your-face album yet also containing some real nice intermingling sounds going on underneath the general fuzz. My favourite is the outstanding For Yasgurs Farm, which they played at Woodstock (when they didn't have a title for the song) and Never In My Life with its classic late-60's in-out speaker production. Leslie West was one of rock's underrated guitarist and the Cream influence shines through as bassist Felix Pappalardi was that band's producer. Good hard evil rock music.
