Das ist extrem befreiend.« (Quelle: www.jpc.de) The great concerted symphony in E flat is one of Mozart's first indisputable masterpieces (its catalogue number, K364, precedes his breakthrough opera, Idomeneo, by two) and a double concerto in all but name. Given the high regard in which it stands, recordings on period instruments have been comparatively few, although Giuliano Carmignola included it in his collection of Mozart s works for violin and orchestra with Claudio Abbado's Orchestra Mozart on Archiv last year. Podger and Beznosiuk's performance is more expansive the opening allegro is a really grand maestoso (majestically) and they relish the conversational interplay of the fast outer movements, while indulging in raptly sensuous love-duetting in the sublime adagio. - The Sunday Times - Classical CD of the Week; "Pavlo and I had the extreme good fortune to play a Strad each!
