Raw Material were a five piece with lots of flute and saxophone and a nice line in complex time signarure. The opener 'time and illusion' is the lengthy standout, nice vibes and a wonderful hook line. Pity about the lyrics about pixies and gnomes 'pear on an apple tree'pounds along and 'traveller man' has the obligatory guitar freak out. Probably my favourite track and the one for mellotron buffs is 'destruction of America' where the spoken dialogue fits just right. So what of Raw Material? like many others destined to legend.
