Inhalt

In this radical reworking of the H.G. Wells classic, director Piotr Szulkin crafts a prescient allegory of state and media control. Set in a dystopian Poland during Christmastime, the story follows Iron Idem (Roman Wilhelmi), a popular television host whose world is upended by a Martian invasion.
 
The aliens collaborate with a repressive police state, using Idem's news program as a propaganda machine to manipulate the populace. When Idem dares to go off-message during a live broadcast, he becomes an enemy of the state and is branded a collaborator by the very media apparatus he once served.
 
Drawing as much on George Orwell’s "1984" as on Wells’ novel, the film is a dark, cynical masterpiece of Polish science fiction that uses noir tropes to explore themes of fake news and total surveillance. It marks the first installment in Szulkin's acclaimed Sci-Fi Trilogy.
