All instrumental release with some backing from other musicians. It mixes some really gorgeous pieces with some less memorable ones--but overall very listenable with Kottke's playing always superb. Cal Hand's dobro lends a nice country/bluegrass feel to some of the tracks. Kottke's humorous slide work on the short "San Antonio Rose/America the Beautiful" medley is smile inducing. Bonus points: see if you can detect the similarity of "Constant Traveler" to the acoustic sections of the Mahavishnu Orchestra's "Open Country Joy" on the Birds of Fire album. Kottke admits that he unconsciously plagiarized parts of this piece after touring with the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early 70s, and he retitled it accordingly for subsequent recorded versions.
