This is the first of their 2 albums and recorded in the late '60s. Sam Apple Pie originated in Walthamstow London and were a classic example of the explosion of experimental bands that were all struggling to get known. I first picked up a tape of their second and last album 'East 17' many years ago, it lived in the car and eventually went the way of all abused cassettes. Only recently have I picked up a new CD of East 17 and now this album.

Sam Apple Pie had a good fan base in East and North London, performed at the first Glastonberry festival alongside TRex and Stackridge aswell as supporting Frank Zappa on a few gigs in Europe. The band almost made it, the album is good solid blues/rock and these 2 albums are to my mind gems from a bygone age of exceptional creative talent where the only way to 'make it' was single minded perseverance and a good Transit van.
