Now we come to the group that recorded this CD, HEAVY JELLY (#3). Trying to prolong the public's curiousity Morshead went about finding musicians to form a real group. Two of the first candidates were Chris Wood and Jim Capaldi on hiatus from TRAFFIC, but soon afterwards Steve Winwood called them back. Next came our man of the hour, Jackie Lomax (ex-UNDERTAKERS, THE LOMAX ALLIANCE), fresh from his frustrating stint on Apple Records. Mike Kellie from SPOOKY TOOTH was their initial drummer and recorded a few tracks before replaced on the stool by THE ANIMALS' Barry Jenkins. Ric Grech (FAMILY, BLIND FAITH) played bass on one track with CAMEL's Pete Bardens on keyboards before Morshead's ANSLEY DUNBAR comrade Alex Dmochowski took over the bass duties. Other guests were the tragic BADFINGER duo of Pete Ham and Tom Evans on backing vocals and "horn section to the stars" Bobby Keys and Jim Price. After the album was finished, the band began touring but was bedeviled by line-up changes. Drummer Dave Rowland (GREASE BAND, FAIRPORT) and Bassist Steve Thompson (JOHN MAYALL) were with the group at one point. After a few months the band disintegrated, and the record was never released until now except for rare white-label promo copies......
