This world premiere 78-minute edition showcases trumpet genius Lee Morgan at the onset of his career as a member of Dizzy Gillespie's legendary mid- 50s State Department big band. The precocious trumpeter is featured here on four separate performances, including the complete Chester, Pennsylvania concert of June 14, 1957. Dizzy was impressed enough with Morgan to allow his young protégé to stretch out on numbers like "Umbrella Man," "That's All," and the bandleader's own signature tune "Night In Tunisia."
