VERLAGSTEXT: / / Widely used for many years by scientists, practitioners and students, as well as translators, the two-volume English-German / German-English Dictionary of Psychology and Psychiatry is generally regarded as the most exhaustive bilingual compilation of terminology in these fields available. / / In this edition, the Dictionary has not only been fully revised and updated, but also considerably expanded. For instance, all the terms and vocabulary from the field of psychology and psychiatry have been carefully reviewed and brought up to date by the inclusion of the terminology used in DSM-IV and ICD-10, as well as numerous other entries. / / Overall, around 4,000 new terms have been added in this edition. The Dictionary thus includes not only words and terms from clinical psychology and psychiatry, but also new terminology from areas such as cognitive neuroscience, biological psychology, personality psychology, methodology, and computer-based assessment, as well of course as relevant terms from fields like computing and the internet. At the same time changes of usage and the new German spelling and orthography have been incorporated throughout. Also included in an appendix are explanations and translations of more than 1,000 of the most common abbreviations used in the fields of psychology and psychiatry. / / Das zweibändige Wörterbuch der Psychologie und Psychiatrie (Englisch/Deutsch, Deutsch/Englisch) ist als einzigartige Sammlung von Fachtermini mittlerweile zu einem unverzichtbaren Hilfsmittel für Wissenschaftler, Praktiker und Studenten sowie für Dolmetscher und Übersetzer geworden. / / Für diese Auflage wurde das Wörterbuch nicht nur vollständig revidiert und aktualisiert, sondern auch deutlich erweitert. So wurde z.B. durch die Berücksichtigung der Nomenklaturen aus ICD-10 und DSM-IV sowie durch das Hinzufügen zahlreicher anderer Einträge der gesamte Wortschatz der Psychologie und Psychiatrie auf den neuesten Stand gebracht. / / Insgesamt wurde diese Auflage um etwa 4.000 Begriffe ergänzt. Das Wörterbuch umfasst nicht nur zahlreiche Fachtermini aus der klinischen Psychologie und aus der Psychiatrie, sondern auch viele neue Begriffe aus den Bereichen kognitive Neurowissenschaften, biologische Psychologie, Persönlichkeitspsychologie, psychologische Methodenlehre, computergestützte Diagnostik, Internet und Informatik. Veränderungen im Sprachgebrauch sowie die neue deutsche Rechtschreibung werden durchgängig berücksichtigt.
