Raw Sienna is the fifth album by the band Savoy Brown. It was recorded and released by Decca in the UK 1970. The album marked the first time that a single line-up of the band had recorded successive albums without any changes in personnel. It should be considered as a staple in the British-blues rock category, but not the 12 bars boogie clichés. The album flows together flawlessly and captivates at first listen and is one of the best LPs to come out of the British Blues Boom. This album was totally outside the mainstream of the typical blues-rock fare of the time.The album merges piano and bass into a simple yet effective rhythmic frame. It seems them softening their rougher edges and stretching out into jazz territory, yet still retaining a blues foundation. There¿s something indefinable about Chris Youlden¿s voice. If you¿ve never heard it, you owe it to yourself. He¿s a superfine rock/blues singer, who co-writes the group¿s subtle, penetrating material.
