This album, recorded live at the famous Marquee Club in June of '71, packs a punch.

I'm happy with what's on offer here - solid big band blues rock and what a big band! Not only Keef Hartley, Miller Anderson, Gary Thain and Derek Austin as the basic band but also Harry Beckett on trumpet, Derek Wadsworth on trombone, Barbara Thompson on alto, Chris Mercer on baritone and six more brass players and a percussionist! The 'little big band' arrangements are in the main done by Henry Lowther and they are great - punchy and gritty with the requisite solid swing. The sound may not be pristine but that's part of the charm- it is a live album from the early seventies after all and getting all those instruments down in a small club wouldn't have been the easiest of mixing jobs.
