The Misunderstood are a great missing sixties band recording at the cusp between R&B and the start of psychedlia. The first six tracks are studio recordings made in London in early '67 for Fontana that the band recorded after moving from California, amazingly they were recorded before Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd had yet recorded so hint at what might have been if the US draft, management issues and other financial pressures hadn't kicked in. These tracks show the influence of the prime early psychedelia movers of the time showing traces of The Yardbirds & The Byrds (one of the tracks has the same subject matter as one of David Crosby's songs on the Byrds 5th Dimension) but are wonderfully original due to the great guitar style, vocals & song structure. The latter half of the album are earlier "live in the studio" recordings, still excellent with great guitar touches but not at the same level as the first half which is half a great missing sixties album.
