Die zehnfach mit dem GRAMMY® Award ausgezeichnete Vokalgruppe »The Manhattan Transfer« feiert ihr 50-jähriges Bestehen mit dem neuen Studioalbum »Fifty«, das auf CD über Craft Recordings erscheinen wird. »The Manhattan Transfer« lassen ihre größten Hits in neuen Arrangements wieder aufleben, darunter »Chanson D'Amour«, »Twilight Zone / Twilight Tone« und »The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul«. Das neue Album »Fifty« enthält auch zwei zeitlose Klassiker wie »The Man I Love« von George und Ira Gershwin sowie den Song »God Only Knows« von The Beach Boys. Für das Album arbeiteten »The Manhattan Transfer« mit dem renommierten WDR-Funkhausorchester Köln, den GRAMMY-Award-Gewinnern Jorge Callandreli und Vince Mendoza sowie mit Amanda Taylor zusammen.
»Wir wollten, dass die Auswahl der Songs die bedeutenden Übergänge unserer Musik über die Spanne von fünf Jahrzehnten repräsentiert, was eine ziemlich gewaltige Aufgabe war«, erklärt Alan Paul. Das Ergebnis ist eine würdige Hommage an eine der größten Vokalgruppen der modernen Musik geworden. Das Quartett besteht aus Alan Paul, Janis Siegel, Cheryl Bentyne und Trist Curless, der 2014 nach dem Tod von Tim Hauser Mitglied der Gruppe wurde. (jpc)
