Much of the content reflects the influence of Dave Swarbrick, who wrote four tracks and takes the lead vocal part on six. The arrival of Lucas gave a powerful voice which features on his songs "Knights of the Road" and "The Plainsman" - the latter with a traditional tune is one of the outstanding tracks. The whimsical "Hungarian Rhapsody" is a Dave Pegg composition and he also wrote "Peggy's Pub", one of two instrumentals. The other instrumental is "The Hens March Through the Midden/The Four Poster Bed" - a wonderful Swarbrick showpiece medley of traditional tunes which has featured throughout his career. The remaining track "Matthew, Mark, Luke and John" is strong one and is credited jointly to Pegg/Swarbrick/Mattacks/Thompson/Nicol.

This is an enjoyable and varied album from a band in transition and which was to reach its peak with the next album, 'Nine'.
