After meeting Joe Boyd (who had already produced Nick Drake, Fairport Convention, Sandy Denny, John Martyn & Incredible String Band) Vashti agreed to make an album for his Witchseason Productions company. The songs were written in 1968 and recorded in 1969 with Joe Boyd in the producer's chair. He engaged the help of string arranger Robert Kirby (who also famously worked with Nick Drake on his first two albums), Simon Nicol & Dave Swarbrick (from Fairport Convention) and the Incredible String Band's Robin Williamson.

The album was released in 1970. Not long after, Vashti retreated to the Outer Hebrides and was never heard of again.
