This was originally recorded as a follow-up to his now legendary White Light.

But he only recorded eight songs back then, and it wasn't released. It was released only in Germany and Holland with three additional tracks Clark recorded with the Byrds (She's the kind of Girl and One in a Hundred) and The Flying Burrito Brothers (Here Tonight).

That may not sound like a masterpiece, but it actually is.

I am a great Gene Clark-fan. He has done so many great, great songs, but he has also released some that are, well, not so great.

This is overall one of his very best albums, and the competition's tough here - he's put out great albums like White Light, No Other, Two sides to every story, Firebyrd (maybe the most underrated of them all, check the reissue This Byrd Has Flown with three extra songs, including one of his best ever, All I want is You) and So Rebellious a lover.

But Roadmaster has no fillers - the closest to that is actually the title-song. A must for Gene Clark-afficionados - and it will turn those who are not, into just that.
