This was the very first album that legendary songwriter/producer/artist Jerry Williams released under the name of Swamp Dogg. As other reviewers have written and raved, this is truly an excellent album. A bit ahead of its times in many respects. Swamp Dogg was not afraid to go against the grain, lyrically or musically, playing and singing whatever he felt like. Soul is the name of the game here, but other tracks also show a bit of country influence. Besides the sassy, soulful original songs that Williams/Dogg wrote, there are inspired covers of two Joe South songs (including the great "Redneck"), three tunes co-written with Gary "US" Bonds, and even a Bobby Goldsboro song.
