Lee Perry never considered this a true Upsetters album because it was cut without him while The Upsetters were touring the UK. He was actually with them but quite where Scratch disappeared to before the recording is unknown to me and anyone hoping for a back story won't find it in the sleeve notes cos there ain't any. To be honest this album does not compare to the Perry produced Upsetters which isn't to say there aren't a few gems amongst these 12 instrumentals. The spacey 'Straight To The Head' will have you wishing the rest of the album sounded this good. 'Red Or Red' has a deep soul flavour to it and it's achingly gorgeous. 'Snow White' is in a similar vein. 'The Good, The Bad & The Upsetter's sounds reminiscent of Hsrry J Allstar's 'The Liquidator.' 'Guns Of Navarone' is a great tune full stop. 'What Do You Say?' is mercilessly catchy and should have you on your feet.
