It's most unusual - not as you'd necessarily expect from the writer of "California Dreaming". It's laid back,haunting ,elegaic and melancholy if that helps to give the flavour,quite unforgettable. I too have had the original vinyl LP in my collection for 25 years or so and have played it regularly. It's the sort of record that probably wouldn't do much for you at first listening but it grows and grows on you over time till you realise it really is a lost classic of the highest order. I really enjoyed this latest CD - excellent re-mastering plus some really good extra tracks - I hadn't previously heard the single version of "Mississipi" which is much jauntier than the album version although I still prefer the original. So yes - a very strong recommendation indeed !
